FLEXOGRAPHIC PRINTER SLOTTER FOLDER GLUERS

These machine consists of the following units:

  1. Feed Section

  2. Print Units

  3. Slotting and Creasing (Box Section)

  4. Glue Unit

  5. Folding Unit

  6. Set Squaring & Counting Unit

1. FEED SECTION

The boards which have been aligned in the hopper are kicker fed to a top: and bottom roller which carries them or to an air suction conveyor belt system which in turn carries them into the first printer unit The effect of the suction belt its to hold the board firmly in place as it travels through the machine from hopper to box section.

2. PRINT UNITS

The boards pass through these units and are top Printed by dies, which have been pre-set on Moulinex sheet in the plate room. The die is held in place by a plastic strip which runs along the length of the Moulinex and the back edge is held in place by Mathews Straps. The ink is fed to the die face by an Anilox Roll, which has been "doctored" to ensure the correct amount of ink: is applied. Flexographic ink is used in our Case-Makers and both print units are identical

3. SLOTTER SCORER UNIT

This unit cuts the slots and creases the board to give the box configuration. The setting up of this unit is accomplished by dialling the panel sizes into an electronic counter system and the slotter-scorer bosses move into position automatically. This system is most advantageous because of the accuracy and the speed with which the machine can be set.

4. GLUER

This unit is positioned to meet the glue flange when the board leaves the "box section". Glue is applied by a wheel, which is gravity fed from a small tank

5. FOLDER UNIT

Two conveyor belts with straight edge parallel bars pick the board from the Gluer Unit. The bars are set to fold the board on the crease at the beginning of Panel 2 and on the crease at the end of Panel 3; Panels 1 and 4 are then folded under by a series of guide bars glue flange com in contact with the inside edge of Panel 4 where it remains sufficiently tacky to allow squaring - off to take place.

6. SQUARING UNIT

A series of vertically set movable bars in the back edge of the Squaring hopper constantly nudge the folded boxes, which ensures that the whole box is square and that the glue flange sets in the correct place.

7. COUNTING AND TAKE 0FF

This unit is pre-set for the number of bundled requirement. It is electronically controlled by a magic eye counter. As the bundle reaches the required number it is fed on a series of rollers to the take off point, where they are either automatically tied by machine if required and then stacked on a pallet.

8. GENERAL

Transport of blanks through machine by vacuum traction belt.

Feed Unit to be kicker fed suitable for boards having a warp of not greater than 1/4" in 1' (6 mm in 305 mm). Method of Die mounting can be by various types, including straps and vacuum.
